Originally designed by the renowned golf course architect A.W. Tillinghast, the Shackamaxon golf course is a hidden gem in northern New Jersey. When the course was first constructed in 1916, "Shack" was one of the longest courses in the country measuring 6,615 yards from the championship tees. It is quite simply a beautiful course with gentle hills that wrap around Lake Shackamaxon. The ninth hole, our signature hole was one of Tillinghast's first "island" greens. The hole was rated by the Metropolitan Golf Association as the toughest 9th hole in the MET area in 1990. Preserving and enhancing the original concepts of this classic golf course is part of the Shack culture.

In 1955 the club hosted the Cavalcade of Golf, which offered the richest purse ever for a PGA tournament conducted east of Chicago. Since then the club has been host to a number of prestigious local tournaments including the New Jersey State Open in 2002.

Shackamaxon is an exclusive private club dedicated to preserving a rich
history of family friendly activities, fine dining, a superb golfing
experience and a place where most members refer to the club as their
"home away from home". Other club amenities include a talented PGA teaching staff, caddies to encourage walking, one of the largest outdoor pools in the state of New Jersey, a kid's summer camp, and beautiful clubhouse facilities for you and your guests. The course and clubhouse is available for corporate and charitable outings, and for the most discriminating private affairs.
